Applications:A novel transgenic mouse model was created to investigate the role of IL1ß in neurodegeneration and brain injury. This model may also be used to test existing and novel drugs and therapies for suppression of neuroinflammation associated with brain disorders.Advantages:Creation of conditionally expressed IL1ß and IL-1A (receptor antagonist) mice provides an important tool for dissection of the role of IL-1 in brain and neurodegeneration.
