The invention offers monoclonal antibodies against VWFpp as a diagnostic for von Willebrand disease. VWFpp is stored only in the endothelial cell and release of this protein may serve as marker for endothelial cell damage of von Willebrand disease.
Advantages
von Willebrand disease has very mild signs and the condition can be difficult to diagnose. The common blood test for von Willebrand disease is the measurement of VWF antigen. The present invention offers an alternative method by measuring VWFpp, adding further accuracy to identify the disease.
