Brief
Description:
This
image processing technology provides data compression for the color
transformation tables which are embedded in printer firmware for optimal color
printing.
Applications:
The
concept is to be used in digital printing devices, such as color ink jet and
color laser printers. Color look-up
tables provide transformation between various color spaces, such as device
independent color spaces (CIELAB) and device-dependent color spaces (CMYK),
which can depend on print media and artistic preferences. These color look-up tables are embedded
in printer hardware, typically on expensive flash memory.
Advantages:
The
technique provides color look-up tables in a compressed form, with no compromise
in quality. The compression ratio
achieved is 3.45.
