Ultra-Short Optical Pulse Measurement Using a Spectral Shearing Interferometer

Brief Description
Amplitude and phase of ultrashort replica pulses are determined by spectral phase interferometry for direct electric field reconstruction by frequency shifting chirp replica pulses of an optical pulse to be measured.


Applications

For measuring ultashort optical pulses (less than 100 picoseconds) in such applications as two-photon and confocal microscopy, lidar, medical diagnostics coherence tomography and ultra-high speed optical communications. 


Advantages

The spectral shearing interferometer technique provides accurate measurements in a device which is collinear and has no moving parts.
