The present invention is a portable cadmium zinc telluride (CZT), imaging system. It is comprised of a radiation source, a novel sensing mitt (detector), that can be worn or held by the user and a collimator. The collimator is placed in front of the sensing surface of the CZT crystal and a processor converts a representation of the electrical signals, received from the CZT crystal, into display signals. The displays are then used to evaluate the tissue or object of interest.
Advantages Over Other Technologies
- Portable lightweight system
- Low cost of usage both radiation and electrical requirements
- Applicable for usage in remote rural areas
- Simple to operate
