The Ontology Mapper

Applications

This is a Clinical Translational Science Institute (CTSI) collaborative project between developers at UCSF, UPenn, and Rochester that involves a software component that can translate data between any two encodings so that data can be repurposed and reinterpreted in novel ways. This application has direct application to the semantic web.

Advantages

This invention does away with semantic modelling and instead identifies the relations between data by using a knowledge management framework called the Ontology of Mapping Relations. This involves the specific invention of a software environment that allows both the person involved in the encoding of mapping relations and the end user to interact via a software component called the Discovery Interface.
