PCLC Flake Dual-frequency Reverse Drive Mechanism With Low Current Draw

This technology is for PCLC flakes that can be rotated, through different electrical frequencies, to quickly change their orientation, resulting in a change in their reflective properties.

 

Applications:

This technology could be used in many displays because the PCLC flakes can provide fast changing images with bright, saturated colors with high reflectivities. Different applications include reflective particle displays, switchable coatings, switchable and tunable color filters or micropolarizers.

 

Advantages:

Existing commercial particle displays are black and white or have low saturation, hue and brightness due to the need for color filters. The PCLC flakes, however, allow for bright, saturated colors, while still only requiring low current draw across the display cell.
